Diabetes education series starts June 7 May 10, 2018 on Health, News ELLSWORTH — The University of Maine Cooperative Extension’s free Dining with Diabetes Down East series will take place Thursdays, June 7, 14, 21 and 28, from 3-5 p.m. at the UMaine Extension Hancock County office, located at 63 Boggy Brook Road in Ellsworth. This program is free and open to anyone with type 2 diabetes or pre-diabetes, and their family members and caregivers. Participants will meet once a week for four weeks. You will learn how to select and prepare foods that help to control blood sugar, cholesterol and blood pressure. There will be an opportunity to taste a variety of main dishes, side dishes and desserts. Dining with Diabetes Down East makes diabetes meal planning easy by using the plate method.
