SOUTHWEST HARBOR — Acadia Family Center is pleased to announce that Mary D’Alessandro is returning to work at the Center after a nine year hiatus. D’Allessandro was instrumental in founding the Center in 1989 and served as its executive director for 17 years.

D’Allessandro is a licensed clinical social worker and a licensed alcohol and drug counselor. She has worked in a variety of clinical settings, including community mental health centers, a substance abuse agency and several universities. For the past five years, she has worked as a counselor for the Employee Assistance Program at the University of Maine in Orono, providing counseling services to faculty, staff, retirees and their family members, as well as external contracted institutions including the Jackson Lab, the Town of Veazie and UCU.

D’Allessandro has a special interest in working with trauma survivors, women’s issues, relationship issues and addictions. She also has extensive experience addressing developmental concerns of early adulthood, dealing with cultural diversity, LGBT concerns and offering life coaching and management consultation.

Acadia Family Center, located in Southwest Harbor, provides prevention, education and outpatient treatment services for adolescents, adults and families affected by substance abuse, chemical dependency and related mental health disorders.
