ELLSWORTH — A concerned citizen called the Hancock County Regional Communications Center to report seeing a man with a child who looked “unkempt and dirty” in Blue Hill on Sunday, said Deputy Dylan Hall.
“After investigation it was found that the individuals were fine,” Hall said.
Deputy Jeff McFarland arrested Shawn Gothard, 24, of Fort Worth, Texas, on a charge of fugitive from justice Friday. Gothard had been walking on South Deer Isle Road in Deer Isle. He has a warrant in Texas charging assault, McFarland said.
A landlord allegedly assaulted a tenant after a disagreement in Brooklin Sept. 3, police said. Hall summoned Lyndon Conary, 53, of Rhode Island on charges of assault and trespass.
A two-vehicle crash in Tremont Sept. 9 led to charges for a Seal Cove woman.
Deputy Marcus Downes arrested Ariel Gilley, 31, on charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of an intoxicant and endangering the welfare of a child.
Wet road conditions led to a car going off the road and hitting a tree on Front Ridge Road in Penobscot Sept. 9, McFarland reported.
August Reader, 18, of Blue Hill was driving a 2004 Volvo, which had to be towed, McFarland said. Reader was not injured.
A vehicle fishtailed and skidded sideways on a dirt driveway before leaving the road and hitting and breaking a telephone pole in Trenton Sunday, Deputy Mariza Gionfriddo reported.
Jeremy French, 19, of Trenton was traveling down his driveway in a 2007 Dodge Charger when French quickly accelerated, Gionfriddo said. Neither French nor his passenger was injured.
A car went off the road into a ditch to avoid an oncoming car that was partially over the centerline of the roadway on Newbury Neck Road in Surry Sept. 4, McFarland said.
Roxanne Cobb, 40, of Ellsworth was driving south in a 2007 Toyota Camry, which sustained minor damage, the deputy said. Dave’s Towing pulled the car out of the ditch.
A pickup truck rear-ended a car that was stopped to turn left into a driveway after the truck’s brakes failed on Surry Road in Surry Sept. 4, police said. The impact pushed the car into the side of another car that was attempting to travel around the scene, police said.
Ryan Ashmore, 20, of Trenton was driving a 2000 Ford, which struck a 2015 Mazda operated by Nathan Ryan, 28, of Pennsylvania. The Mazda struck the left side of a 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan being driven by Elanie Blais, 36, of Massachusetts. Blais was trying to drive the Volkswagen around the right side of the Mazda.
No one was injured, McFarland said. The truck had to be towed. The Mazda had rear-end damage but was drivable. “The VW had minor damage to the left rear corner and was driven from the scene,” McFarland said.
A Portland woman Sept. 4 reported an ongoing problem with someone damaging the trash cans at a Dedham residence she owns.
Deputy Travis Frost checked on an unattended death of an Orland resident, 57, on Saturday morning. The death was not suspicious, Frost said.
Frost was assisted at the scene by Bucksport Ambulance and Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home.
“Gunshots” heard in the area of Oak Point Road in Trenton Sept. 5 were the sound of a vehicle backfiring, Hall said. The vehicle was towed due to safety concerns.
Downes cleared away personal items and clothing, which were creating a hazard for motorists in a portion of the Main Road in Dedham Friday evening.
