Hancock County Sheriff’s log week of May 26

ELLSWORTH — Hancock County Sheriff’s Deputy Travis Frost charged two men with assault after investigating a complaint about two people fighting in Trenton May 20.

King Moses, 46, of Howland and William Lumpkin, 41, of Franklin were each summoned on one count of assault.

Disorderly conduct

Deputy Dylan Hall arrested Gabriel Stearns, 25, of Castine on charges of assault, criminal mischief and reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon May 22.

Agency assist

Deputy Brian Archer helped the Maine State Police with the recovery of a stolen vehicle in Hancock May 17.


Archer took a fraud complaint from a Hancock resident May 17.

Citizen assist

A caller from the Waltham area May 17 needed help walking out of the woods to his vehicle but by the time Archer arrived to render assistance, the man had made it out of the area safely.


Deputy Rob Morang summoned Stafford Venema, 30, of Ellsworth on a charge of operating after suspension May 18 in Blue Hill.


A sport utility vehicle left the road and struck a residence after a motorist fell asleep while driving on Cape Rosier Road in Brooksville May 19, said Deputy Rob Morang.

Albert Varnum, 75, of Brooksville was driving a 2014 Jeep, Morang said. Varnum had chest pain but advised he would seek treatment on his own, police said. There was no word on the damage to either the Jeep or the residence.
