ELLSWORTH –  Deputy Rob Morang is investigating the theft of a handgun from a Brooksville residence.

The theft was reported May 6.

Accidents

A sport utility vehicle went off the road and struck a guardrail before coming to rest on a side of Route 1 in Orland May 6, said Deputy Brian Archer.

Sharon Harvey, 49, of Orland was driving a 2002 Jeep Liberty, which had to be towed.

Bucksport Ambulance took Harvey to Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center for treatment of back pain, Archer said.

The Orland Fire Department also assisted.

Driving infractions

Joseph Chernosky, 78, of Penobscot was summoned on a charge of registered owner of a vehicle passing a stopped school bus May 5 on the Castine Road in Orland.

Deputy Rob Morang summoned Stafford Venema, 30, of Ellsworth on a charge of operating after suspension May 5.

Unattended deaths

Morang investigated the death of an elderly Dedham resident May 5. “The death is believed to be from natural causes,” the deputy said.

Morang investigated the death of a Brooksville man, 72, due to natural causes.

Assault

Downes is investigating an assault that allegedly occurred in the parking lot of a Trenton business May 7.

Agency assist

Downes helped the Maine State Police with a domestic dispute in Mariaville during the late evening hours of May 7.

Morang assisted the state police by driving a woman from Stonington to the Hancock County Jail May 8.

Civil issue

A Trenton man called police May 7 to report a dispute over an electric scooter. “The man was advised on how to proceed with his complaint through the civil court process,” Archer said.
