Hancock County Sheriff’s log week of June 16

ELLSWORTH — An Ellsworth woman was charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of an intoxicant after police investigated her crash on Bayside Road in Trenton June 12, the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office reported.

Deputy John Stanley said Megan Rich, 39, had been speeding southbound in a 2001 PT Cruiser and passing another southbound vehicle when she lost control of her car on a corner.

Rich’s car rolled, landing on its roof on the northbound side of the road, Stanley said.

Rich sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital.

Hancock County Sheriff’s Deputy Travis Frost spoke with a Sullivan resident June 10 who didn’t have any complaints or concerns but just wanted to be listened to.


Deputy Dylan Hall summoned two youths on one count each of theft June 8. The theft had allegedly occurred at a Blue Hill store June 7.

Noise complaint

A Trenton resident called about a neighbor playing loud music June 11. “I spoke with the individual about town ordinances and explained to them what the options are for dealing with this situation,” Stanley said.


Deputy Rob Morang arrested Cullen Schneider, 41, of Orland on a charge of violating conditions of release June 5.

Morang said the complaint was a report about “an intoxicated female who would not allow a child to leave her residence.”

Deputy Brian Archer and Maine State Police Cpl. Blaine Silk assisted Morang.

Ryan Deniger, 25, of Ellsworth was arrested on a warrant June 9 in Trenton. Deniger also was summoned on charges of operating after suspension and violating conditions of release.

Agency assist

Frost and police dog Finn conducted an article search in a wooded area June 8 for the Ellsworth Police Department, which was investigating theft complaints from two stores on Route 3.


Rocks fell out of a dump truck and struck two vehicles traveling north on Front Ridge Road in Penobscot June 7, Archer reported.

Jesse Reed, 24, of Orland was driving a 1987 Mack dump truck, which lost rocks that hit the hoods and windshields of a 2016 Toyota Corolla operated by Jesse Thulin, 41, of Blue Hill and a 2016 Ford Transit operated by Kevin Stecher, 41, of Deer Isle, Archer said. No one was injured.

Traffic detail

Archer conducted a traffic detail on June 7 between 6 and 10 p.m. in the towns of Ellsworth, Orland and Verona Island. The deputy stopped a total of seven vehicles for various infractions.
