Hancock County Sheriff’s Log Week of July 22

ELLSWORTH — Hancock County Sheriff’s deputies were sent to check on a woman lying in the roadway next to a vehicle on Black Woods Road in Township 10 July 12.

Deputy Marcus Downes said after investigating, Yolanda Armstrong, 35, of Milbridge was arrested on a charge of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of an intoxicant. Deputy Travis Frost assisted.


A car struck the rear of another car that slowed in traffic on Route 3 in Trenton July 15, said Deputy Luke Gross.

Jason McCrystal, 43, of Colorado Springs, Colo., was driving a 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer, which struck a 2007 Subaru Outback operated by Daniel Strout, 53, of Anchorage, Alaska, Gross said. Both cars sustained reportable damage. No one was injured.


Deputy Dylan Hall on July 14 issued a written criminal trespass warning to a customer who was allegedly harassing a Verona Island business owner. The customer is not to return to the business for a year.


Deputies responded July 13 to an Orland campground for an alleged assault. After investigation, a man was taken to Northern Light Maine Coast Hospital and warned not to return to the campground.

“We were assisted on scene by the Maine State Police and Peninsula Ambulance,” said Deputy Marcus Downes.

Mental health issues

Deputies took a suicidal man into protective custody in Sedgwick July 14. Deputy Mariza Gionfriddo said the man was taken to a hospital for a mental health evaluation.

Hall assisted the Bucksport Police Department with a suicidal person on July 15.


On Sunday, a Trenton campground owner requested police remove a camper who was being aggressive and rude to nearby campers. Gionfriddo issued a trespass warning and helped him remove his things from the property.

Agency assists

On Saturday, deputies helped the Brewer Police Department look for a vehicle that had fled from a traffic stop heading toward Hancock County. Deputy Dakota Dupuis said the investigation continues.

That same day, Gionfriddo assisted the Brewer P.D. by delivering a message to a person in Dedham.

Civil dispute

Gross went to Eastbrook July 12 for a dispute over marital property. No law enforcement action was taken.
