Hancock County Sheriff’s Log: Girl reportedly given drugs by family member



ELLSWORTH — Hancock County Deputy Sheriff Dana Austin is investigating a complaint filed Monday that a girl, 14, was given illicit drugs by a family member.

The girl’s mother took her to a local hospital for treatment.

Austin said charges are pending.

Assault

A Lamoine man was charged with domestic violence assault after allegedly using a piece of wood to assault a family member, Deputy Travis Frost reported. Police first took the man, James Day, 47, to Maine Coast Memorial Hospital for treatment and an evaluation. He was then taken to jail, Frost said.

Accidents

A car struck another vehicle while traversing the Blue Hill rotary Nov. 23 after the driver failed to yield the right of way, Deputy Brian Archer reported.

Marianne New, 95, of Blue Hill was driving a 2000 Honda, which struck the passenger side door of a 2008 Chevrolet Aveo operated by Ralph Chapman, 64, of Brooksville, Archer said.

A car sustained extensive front-end damage after hitting a moose that had run into the roadway on Route 1A in Dedham Nov. 23, Deputy Jake Day reported.

Daisy Campbell, 25, of Brewer was operating a 2010 Hyundai Elantra, Day said.

A deer ran into a roadway, jumping over the rear of a car and then hitting and breaking the car’s rear window on Partridge Cove Road in Lamoine Nov. 23, Day said.

Jason Flasher, 29, of Lamoine was driving a 2013 Subaru Impreza, the deputy said. The deer ran into the woods.

A pickup truck drifted off the road and hit a tree on Pomroy Road in Hancock Nov. 23, Deputy Luke Gross reported.

Justin Horton, 29, of Blue Hill was driving a 2000 Chevrolet, which sustained front-end damage, Gross said.

Summonses

Police summoned Richard Wallace, 57, of Lamoine on a charge of operating after suspension Sunday.

Police summoned Corey Gordon, 45, of Hancock on a charge of operating after suspension Sunday.

Police summoned Lionel Nault, 22, of Deer Isle on a charge of possession of a usable amount of marijuana Nov. 25.

Austin summoned Cynthia Andrews, 21, of Seal Harbor on a charge of impersonating a public servant Monday as a result of a motor vehicle complaint.

Theft

A Brooklin business reported $100 in cash missing Monday.

Day summoned a Stonington resident after getting a report that a license plate had been stolen from a business Nov. 17.

Day charged Ingmar A. Robles Perez, 39, with theft by unauthorized taking or transfer.

Deputy Travis Frost is investigating a theft from a Trenton business that was reported Nov. 17.

Citizen assist

A suicidal Blue Hill woman was taken to Maine Coast Memorial Hospital Nov. 26 for an evaluation.

A Trenton woman called for an ambulance Monday but was vague about where she was and why she needed one, Lt. Chris Thornton reported. The woman was eventually located and taken to Maine Coast Memorial.

Driving infractions

A call about an erratic driver in Surry Nov. 25 turned out to be a motorist texting on his cellphone while driving. Deputy Travis Frost issued a warning to the man.

Morang summoned Harland Lunt, 75, of Swan’s Island on a charge of operating after suspension Nov. 17.

Police summoned Eric Warford, 32, of Hancock on charges of operating after suspension and operating an all-terrain vehicle on a public way on Washington Junction Road in Hancock Nov. 18.

Death

Deputy Eric McLaughlin checked on an unattended death in Otis Nov. 17. The deputy found the man, 78, had died of natural causes.

Agency assist

Morang assisted the Maine Department of Health and Human Services with a visit at a Swan’s Island residence Nov. 23.

Deputy Jeff McFarland helped the Holden Police Department with an OUI arrest, which occurred in the G&M Variety parking lot off Route 1A Nov. 20.

McFarland helped the Maine Marine Patrol, which was conducting a traffic stop on Oak Point Road in Deer Isle Nov 21.
