ELLSWORTH — Hancock County Habitat for Humanity is hosting an open house on Saturday, May 14, to celebrate the second time one home has been provided to a deserving Maine family. The home was initially built in 2010 and sold at an affordable price. The nonprofit repurchased the property in 2019, and it has since been refreshed and repaired, thanks to donations and volunteer support.
After some delays due to COVID, volunteers spent many Saturdays (and an occasional weekday) working on the house, bringing it to a condition in which a family can feel safe and secure. Some of the tasks the volunteers worked on included repairing damaged siding, replacing broken windows, installing new flooring and applying a fresh coat of paint.
The public is invited to the open house, which will run from 1-5 p.m. and take place at 12 Tanglewood Way in Ellsworth. Tour the house and meet the Hancock County Habitat for Humanity Board of Directors and volunteers.
