Gun rights rally in Ellsworth

ELLSWORTH – A dozen gun rights activists stood in Ellsworth’s Whiting Park at the corner of Main and High streets Jan. 19 to demonstrate their opposition to gun control initiatives that have been proposed in the wake of the Dec. 14 rampage at Sandy Hook Elementary School.

Participants said they received many supportive honks and waves from passing drivers and a few thumbs-down gestures. One passerby, a man who appeared to be in his 30s, cursed the gathering
