Girl Struck by Car on State Street

ELLSWORTH — An Ellsworth girl was injured when she ran into the roadway and was struck by a car on State Street late Tuesday afternoon, police reported.

Police Chief John DeLeo said the girl lost several teeth during the accident.

The girl, Emersyn Cash, 12, was taken to Maine Coast Memorial Hospital, police reported. She was treated and released.

Officer Rick Roberts said the girl failed to obey a traffic light, which was green for oncoming traffic.

A motorist, Torrey Garland, 33, of Ellsworth was operating a 1995 Toyota pickup truck and was unable to stop in time, Roberts said.

The accident occurred at 4:45 p.m.
