Free Audio Downloads At Ellsworth Public Library

The Ellsworth Public Library has a new service. Library users are invited to download audio books — to their computer, iPod or MP3 player — for free.

Using an Ellsworth Public Library card, users can go to and click on the “download audiobooks” icon on the right side of the home page. The program makes it easy to browse recent releases, popular titles, authors, subjects, languages or even awards won. You can “sign out” books for one week. Titles may be “reserved” if they are already checked out to someone else. You can also create a “wish list” of books to download later.

Audiobooks are compatible with PCs but some work with MACs. Some books can even be burned to CDs so you can listen to them in your car or away from your desktop computer. All that’s needed to take advantage of this service is a valid library card. Library cards are free and must be renewed yearly. To obtain your card, bring something showing your name and current mailing address to the library. For more information, call the library at 667-6363 or [email protected]
