Four arrested in Gouldsboro drug bust

ELLSWORTH – Drug agents arrested four people after executing a search warrant Thursday at a home in Gouldsboro.

Members of the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency’s (MDEA) Downeast Task Force executed the warrant at a home on the Guzzle Road occupied by Edward Muise, 38, and Samantha Polchies, 25, seizing about ten grams of heroin and $1,000 in cash. The cash is believed to be the proceeds from drug sales.

Muise and Polchies both were arrested on charges of aggravated trafficking in heroin, a class A crime. Bail for Muise and Polchies has been set at $10,000 each.

Also arrested as a result of the investigation were Gary Reynolds, 55, of Milbridge and Melissa Valzania, 37, of Franklin.

Reynolds was arrested on a heroin possession charge. Valzania was charged with illegal possession of the prescription drug Diazepam. Their bail was set at $1,000 each.

According to MDEA Division II commander Peter Arno, the arrests follow several months of investigation into heroin trafficking in the area. The Hancock County Sheriff’s Department, Maine State Police, Ellsworth police, Gouldsboro police and the U. S. Coast Guard Investigative Services assisted drug agents in the investigation.

Arno said the investigation is ongoing and more arrests are expected.
