Former bowling alley operator is indicted

ELLSWORTH — A Hancock County grand jury Oct. 8 indicted an Ellsworth man accused of having sexual contact with a young child at his former business, according to court records.

The grand jury indicted David Worster, 39, on one count of unlawful sexual contact. The alleged violations occurred Sept. 19 and Dec. 15 in Ellsworth, according to a copy of the indictment.

Ellsworth police said at the time that the Dec. 15 incident occurred in the office of what was the Acadia Bowling Lanes.

There is a new operator for the bowling alley and a new name, according to city licensing records.

Worster is represented by Rudman Winchell attorney Michael Hockenbury. Worster is scheduled for arraignment on Thursday, Oct. 22, according to court records.

Hockenbury filed a motion Sept. 30 asking for equipment that the police seized from his client last December to be returned.

Ellsworth Police Detective Chris Smith, as part of his investigation, seized multiple computers and a digital surveillance system, which he sent to the Maine Computer Crimes Task Force.

Hockenbury stated in his motion, “None of the items seized contain any incriminating materials or evidentiary value to the state’s prosecution in this matter.”

A judge has yet to rule on Worster’s request.
