Fire Chief to Retire

Bar Harbor Fire Chief is retiring after 18 years with the department.

BAR HARBOR – Fire Chief Dave Rand submitted resignation papers to the town Thursday morning, after 18 years with the fire department. He will work through June of next year.

“The last 18 years at the Bar Harbor Fire Department have been most rewarding. However, after many years in the fire service, it is time for me to retire,” Chief Rand wrote.

Town manager Dana Reed accepted Chief Rand’s resignation Thursday, and praised for his years of service to the town.

“I received your resignation today with very mixed feelings. Joy that you will finally be able to begin your much deserved retirement, yet huge disappointment that you will be leaving Bar Harbor’s management team,” Mr. Reed wrote. “Your tenure at the fire department has been dazzling.”
