ELLSWORTH — Susan Farley has been named the new executive director of the Ellsworth Area Chamber of Commerce.

“I’m really excited,” said Farley, speaking Wednesday morning. “I think it’s going to be a great fit.”

Farley, who currently works as the family assistance advocate at Washington Hancock Community Agency (WHCA), will take the reins at the chamber in early June. She follows interim Executive Director Gail Kelly, who succeeded former Executive Director Tony Cameron.

“Susan comes to us with a wealth of community and public relations experience,” said Buddy Saunders, chairman of the chamber’s board of directors. “We are very lucky to have found someone right in our own backyard who knows our community to take on this position.”

Farley said the partnerships she formed at WHCA and during her time at WABI-TV with community members and businesses will be helpful in her new role. She spent more than a decade with the local CBS affiliate, six of those as coastal bureau chief based in Ellsworth.
