Ellsworth Police log week of September 22

ELLSWORTH — Someone called the police to report a suspicious person running around a playground wearing a costume Sept. 17.

An officer discovered it was just a costumed child at play.

Meanwhile, a report of a suspicious vehicle at Ellsworth Elementary-Middle School Sept. 16 turned out to be a father waiting to pick up his daughter, police said.


A fight between two youths Sept. 16 resulted in an assault summons for one of the pair. That child is 15, police said.

Citizen assist

An older man walking on a busy road at 9 p.m. Sept. 18 was discovered by the officer who checked on him. The man was taken to his home in Hancock.

Funeral service

Officers handled an incident involving people trying to get into a private funeral they weren’t invited to on Sept. 17. The matter was resolved.


Police are investigating a case of vandalism that was reported Sept. 17.

Security detail

Officers conducted a security detail at Constitution Hall Sept. 17.


Russell Thompson, 52, a transient, was summoned on a charge of disorderly conduct due to intoxication Sept. 18, police said.

Mensworth Merchant, 30, of Blue Hill was summoned on a charge of operating after suspension Sept. 15.

Police summoned Cassandra McVay, 34, of Franklin on a charge of theft Sept. 17. The item taken was valued at $135, police said.
