Ellsworth Burger King closes

ELLSWORTH — The High Street Burger King restaurant served its final burgers and fries on Dec. 28 before permanently shuttering its doors. Three additional locations, on Hogan Road in Bangor, Stillwater Avenue in Orono and in Rockland, are also closing.

The franchise restaurants are owned by Northcountry Management Group of Bangor, owned by Steven P. Wegner. Burger King restaurants in Caribou, Houlton and Presque Isle owned by Northcountry Management Croup closed in February, and a Calais location was closed in 2015.

The number of employees whose jobs will be lost is unknown. The American was unable to reach a Burger King representative for comment before press time and the Northcountry Management Croup website was not accessible.
