BROOKSVILLE — On Saturday, April 9, at 12:30 p.m., the Brooksville Town House will be the site of a workshop to create “pysanky,” or Ukrainian decorated eggs, following traditional techniques that have been perfected in Ukraine over centuries.
There is no set fee to participate in the workshop: 100 percent of donations received will be sent to benefit refugees from Ukraine. The workshop will be coordinated and led by Abbie McMillen.
McMillen found a suitable charity, World Central Kitchen (WCK), which provides food to victims of various tragedies in the world and is currently focusing on the Ukraine refugee situation.
Because the technique requires focused concentration, the materials are fragile and melted beeswax is involved, this workshop is not suitable for young children.
If the Saturday workshop fills up, there is the possibility of holding another workshop on Sunday, April 10. To register, contact Brook Minner at the Brooksville Free Public Library at 326-4560 or [email protected].
