Student Orators Speak Out

BAR HARBOR — A team of nine students from the Mount Desert Island High School speech team earned sixth place out of 15 schools in a statewide speech competition on Jan 30. There were 13 categories, including prose, poetry, and political speeches.


The event marked the end of speech competition for the year. Three students placed in top spots in the meet: Summer Keith earned first place in novice poetry; Maddy Johnson placed second in oratorical declamation and third in Prose; and Amberosity Davis placed third in novice prose.

Students Sam Jacobson, Mae Krieg, and Parker Brown earned honorable mentions for an ensemble presentation. Other members of the school’s speech team include Aidan Pasha, Matt Homer, and Audyn Curless.
