Bar Harbor Bank & Trust has awarded $500 scholarships to Mount Desert Island High School 2020 graduates Katherine Hoff, Samuel Keblinsky and Rachelle Swanson.
Established in memory of long-term bank employees and directors, the scholarships are awarded to local high school graduates each year to help offset the cost of attending college.
Hoff, of Mount Desert, is the recipient of the Carroll C. Brown Scholarship for 2020. Hoff has a passion for business and plans to major in accounting at Indiana University and eventually obtain her certified public accountant license.
Keblinsky, of Ellsworth, is the recipient of the Horace E. Bucklin Scholarship for 2020. He plans to study welding technology at Southern Maine Community College and has committed to play baseball for the college.
Swanson, of Trenton, is the recipient of the Albert H. Cunningham Scholarship for 2020. She has a passion for foreign language and traveling and plans to major in communications at the University of Southern Maine.
The following area students were named to the spring 2020 dean’s list at the University of Maine at Fort Kent: Irene Neal, Aurora; Erin McGinty, Bucksport; Torri Bray, Ellsworth; Grace High, Ellsworth; Maddison Arnold, Holden; Gilbert Isaacs, Mount Desert; Josie Clark, Penobscot; Danielle LeDuc, Salsbury Cove; Meagan Eastman, Sullivan.
Isaac Webb of Blue Hill has earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta.
Webb was among approximately 4,050 undergraduate and graduate students who earned degrees during the spring 2020 semester. Students were celebrated during a virtual celebration held on May 1. They will also be honored during in-person commencement ceremonies to be held on campus later this year.
Cecily Page of East Blue Hill, Tyler Philbrook of Swan’s Island and Camilla Thomassen-Tai of Hulls Cove were awarded degrees during the University of Vermont’s 220th commencement ceremonies.
Nathan Jaffrey of Brooklin was named to the spring 2020 dean’s list at LeTourneau University in Longview, Texas. Jaffrey is a sophomore majoring in aircraft systems at LeTourneau, a Christian polytechnic university.
Alahna Mild of Bernard was named to the spring 2020 dean’s list at Lasell University in Netwon, Mass.
Nathan Vonder Haar of Bar Harbor was recently named to the president’s list at the State University of New York at Potsdam. Vonder Haar, whose major is music, was among 1,114 SUNY Potsdam students who were honored for academic excellence in the spring 2020 semester.
Andrew Miers of Ellsworth was named to the dean’s list for the spring 2020 semester at Vermont Tech in Randolph Center, Vt. Miers is pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in architectural engineering technology.
Brittany Corson of Trenton was named to the dean’s list for the 2020 spring semester at Endicott College in Beverly, Mass. Corson is majoring in liberal studies/education and is the daughter of Amanda Corson and Steven Corson.
Nicholas Bagley of Hancock, Casey Willard of Lamoine and Devin Grindle of Surry were named to the dean’s list for the spring 2020semester at Thomas College in Waterville.
Alyssa C. Chesney of Blue Hill was one of 480 seniors who graduated from Colby College in Waterville on May 24. Chesney received a Bachelor of Arts degree. She majored in history, attended George Stevens Academy and is the daughter of Grace Konecny of Blue Hill and Stephen Chesney of Canaan.
Aidan Babbitt of Deer Isle and Avery LaValle of Hulls Cove were named to the dean’s list for the spring 2020 semester at Ithaca College in Ithaca, N.Y.
Babbitt is a musical theatre major while LaValle is majoring in cinema and photography.
Mallory Charette of Penobscot and Lily Gray of Brooksville were named to the spring 2020 dean’s list at Curry College in Milton, Mass. Both are majoring in accounting.
Brian Joseph Whalley of Ellsworth was named to the dean’s list for the spring 2020 semester at Norwich University in Northfield, Vt.
