Shepard wins CSD 13 seat

STONINGTON — Newcomer William Shepard outpolled longtime incumbent Lawrence “Skip” Greenlaw for a seat on the Community School District 13 (CSD 13) Board by four votes Tuesday.

Shepard took 461 votes to Greenlaw’s 457.

The margin was slimmest in the town of Deer Isle, which Greenlaw took with 306 votes to Shepard’s 304, according to the town clerks.

However, in Stonington, where both candidates reside, Shepard took 157 votes, six more than Greenlaw’s 151.

Shepard will serve a three-year term.

Greenlaw said earlier this year that he had been on the School Board for “30 or 32 years.”
