ELLSWORTH — On Saturday, Nov. 3, from 9 a.m. to noon, students in grades 5 through 8 will have the opportunity to learn about programs offered at Hancock County Technical Center during the center’s Middle School Skills Camp.
Registration is required and allowed the day of the event from 8:45 to 9 a.m., but early registration is encouraged, as spots will be filled on a first-come basis.
Students can choose two programs to participate in. All workshops cost $40, with all proceeds going toward SkillsUSA. There are scholarships available and funds will be returned if a program is full.
On the agenda are programs ranging from the culinary arts, where students will have a chance to watch knife demonstrations and decorate cupcakes under the tutelage of a skilled baker to rat dissection (biomedical research) and sailboat construction (marine service technology) for the Rain Gutter Regatta.
There will also be programs in welding, multimedia design, law enforcement, medical occupations, diesel technology, early childhood education and automotive technology.
