Peninsula School has new principal

GOULDSBORO — Heather Dorr, a fifth-grade teacher at the Ella Lewis School in Steuben, has been named principal at the Peninsula School in Prospect Harbor.

Dorr’s appointment was approved by the Regional School Unit 24 (RSU 24) Board on March 5.

“Heather has been with us since September 2016,” said RSU 24 Superintendant Mike Eastman. “I think everyone felt she was a really impressive candidate and we are excited to have her at the Peninsula School.”

The Peninsula School is a pre-K-grade 8 school with an enrollment of around 180 students. Dorr will be taking over for Sally Leighton, who will be retiring after almost 40 years as an educator.

Dorr will be starting in her new position on July 1, welcoming incoming students for the 2019-2020 school year.
