Mason wins Principal’s Award

BAR HARBOR — Max Mason of Mount Desert, a senior at Mount Desert Island High School, has been selected to receive the 2013 Principal’s Award, principal Janger announced Monday. The award, sponsored by the Maine Principals’ Association, is given in recognition of a high school senior’s academic achievement and citizenship.

“Throughout his years at MDIHS, Max has distinguished himself in the classroom, on the playing field as a multi-sport athlete, and as a leader in the school,” the principal said. He has served in the role of senior class president, Co-President of National Honor Society and has served on several hiring committees. Max also is the ‘voice’ of MDI during morning announcements and at basketball games,” Principal Janger notes. As the Principal’s Award winner, Max will also receive the Albert Cunningham scholarship worth $500.

Max, Dr. Janger and other award winners and their principals will attend an honors luncheon in Bangor on April 6.

The Principal’s Award is presented in more than 100 Maine public and private high schools by member principals of the MPA.
