ELLSWORTH — Bucking the statewide trend, Republican Shawn Moody won the governor’s race in a mock election at Ellsworth High School, garnering 51 percent of the vote.
Democrat Janet Mills, the actual gubernatorial victor in the Nov. 6 election, was favored by 32 percent of student voters. Independents Terry Hayes and Alan Caron received 10 and 7 percent of the vote, respectively.
As for the Senate race, independent incumbent Angus King won by a landslide (57 percent), followed by Republican Eric Brakey (29 percent) and, finally, Democrat Zak Ringelstein (17 percent).
In the Congressional District 2 race, Democrat Jared Golden narrowly defeated Republican incumbent Bruce Poliquin and independents Tiffany Bond and William Hoar followed far behind.
