PENOBSCOT — A public discussion will be held at the Penobscot Community School on Wednesday, Feb. 7, at 6:30 p.m. (snow date Feb. 8) to look at findings of a recently completed school sustainment study.
The town’s School Sustainment Team will summarize its report on options to increase enrollment, reduce school costs and respond to a further decline in enrollment. The meeting will provide opportunities to discuss recommendations from the report.
Small group discussions will focus on promotion of the school, energy efficiency, working with the owners of the former nursing home to develop it for housing and/or employment and the future of middle-grade education on the peninsula.
The School Sustainment Team is part of the People’s Forum of Penobscot, a group of citizens using a problem-solving approach to conduct unbiased, fact-based analyses of issues facing the town, as requested by the selectmen.
