ELLSWORTH — The School Board will appoint a new member at a special June 22 meeting, following Chairwoman Jennifer Alexander’s resignation, which was announced at the June 8 board meeting. Her resignation became effective on June 14.
Alexander said she was “no longer able to commit the time that is required” to sit on the board because of personal reasons. She was first elected in 2019 for a three-year term.
Under board policy, the vacancy will be filled by appointment until the November 2021 elections, when a new board member will be elected to serve the remainder of her term, or one year. Following the appointment, the board will vote on a new chairman. Abigail Miller is the current vice chairman.
Those interested in being considered for appointment to the board until November should contact [email protected] or write to the Ellsworth School Department, Attn: Teresa Austin, 66 Main St., Suite 201, Ellsworth, ME 04605.
