BUCKSPORT — The valedictorian of Bucksport High School’s Class of 2020 is Jack Foster, the son of Thomas and Andrea Foster of Bucksport. Foster is graduating with a 101.7 GPA. Foster plans on attending Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in the fall, where he will dual major in games and simulations arts and sciences as well as computer science.
Foster’s high school activities include: FIRST Robotics, American Legion Boys’ State, golf and band. Foster says “Life is full of challenges, but with enough hard work and perseverance anything is possible, so pick yourself up when you fall, make funny stories out of the mistakes, be stubborn and keep moving forward, if you never stop trying you never fail.”
Salutatorian Suzanne Jack, daughter of Paul and Allison Jack of Orland, is graduating with a 99.6 GPA over her four years at Bucksport High School. Jack plans on attending Husson University in the fall, where she will major in forensic science. Jack has demonstrated her academic excellence by earning the following awards: Student of the Month, Certificate of Achievement in Science and Certificate of Achievement in Math. Her high school activities include: Math Team, baseball manager, varsity soccer and basketball and National Honor Society.
First Honors Essayist Katelyn Cloutier, daughter of Renaud Cloutier and Jennifer Collins of Bucksport, is graduating with a 99.4 GPA over her four years at Bucksport High School. Cloutier plans on attending University of Maine at Farmington, where she will major in elementary education. Her high school activities include: Drama, outdoor track, indoor track, National Honor Society, Student Council and Jazz Band. Cloutier said, “Cherish every moment you have and when life is bringing you down, use the memories to bring your spirits back up.”
Second Honors Essayist Olivia West, is the daughter of Stephen West and Darcy Dakin of Searsport. West is graduating with a 99.2 GPA over her four years at Bucksport High School. West plans on attending Husson University in the fall to major in journalism and communications. She has demonstrated her academic excellence by earning the following awards: Highest GPA awards, Excellence in Class awards, Daughters of the American Revolution, Excellence in A.P. U.S. History and the Williams College Book Award. Her high school activities include: Band, Jazz Band, Jazz Combo, Musical, One Act, National Honor Society and Gifted and Talented Music. West said, “Music can connect us all. Take the time to listen.”
