Bucksport High School announces honor parts recipients



BUCKSPORT — Bucksport High School will hold commencement exercises for the Class of 2019 on Friday, June 14, at 6 p.m. in the gymnasium.

The valedictorian is Mikayla Tripp, the daughter of Rick and Nicole Tripp.

Tripp is graduating with a 99.9 grade point average.

Tripp plans on attending Husson University in fall, where she will study nursing and play on the softball team.

Tripp has earned the following awards: the MPA Principal’s Award, Scholar Athlete Award, Phi Beta Kappa Award, George Eastman’s Young Leaders Award, Society of Women’s Engineering Academic Achievement Award and High/Highest Honor Roll 9-12.

The valedictorian participated in the following: the National Honor Society; Math Team, varsity winter and fall cheering, track, soccer and softball. She was captain her senior year of both the soccer and softball teams.

Salutatorian Hannah Ferrell is the daughter of Jeffrey and Sylvia Ferrell.

Ferrell plans on attending the University of Maine in Orono in the fall, where she will study music education.

Ferrell was a Dirigo Girls State delegate.

Her high school activities include: Jazz Combo, National Honor Society, Class Treasurer senior year, Student Council, drama club, soccer and track. Ferrell was also a Bangor Area Children’s Choir and Singers Council Member.

First Honor Essayist Hank Austin is the son of Steve and Hannah Austin.

Austin plans to attend University of Maine in Orono to major in media studies.

Austin has been student School Board representative. His high school activities include the National Honor Society, the Student Council, drama club, math team, varsity soccer and unified basketball. He was captain of the varsity soccer team senior year.

Second Honor Essayist is Emily Erickson, the daughter of Matthew and Joey Erickson.

Emily plans on attending Utah State University to study biochemistry.

Erickson’s high school activities include: National Honor Society, including serving as president senior year, band, soccer, cross-country, indoor and outdoor track. She was captain of both track teams senior year.
