Blue Hill Consolidated chess team takes second at state tournament

BLUE HILL — On Saturday, March 10, the Blue Hill Consolidated School Chess Team attended the Maine State Scholastic Chess Team Championship Tournament in Orono, the largest chess tournament in the state.

In the Junior High School Division, Blue Hill placed second behind Orono Middle School.

The team is headed by teacher Vicki Davis and coached by Hayden Ciomei. The winning team members on Saturday were seventh-graders Sarah Means and Samuel Page and eighth-graders Colby LaCasse, Gabe Hall, Tucker Norwood, Sol Tyler and Jaden Lewis.

The team hopes to attend the national tournament in Atlanta over the weekend of April 7 and 8. It will be hosting a bake sale on the morning of Saturday, March 31, in front of Tradewinds Market in Blue Hill.
