ELLSWORTH — Downeast Audubon will again be offering fully paid scholarships to several nature camps this summer.
The scholarships include:
- Acadia Institute of Oceanography camps for kids ages 10 to 12 (introductory), 12-15 (intermediate) and 15-19 (advanced).
- National Audubon Society’s Hog Island “Mountains to Sea Birding for Teens,” for ages 14 to 17.
- National Audubon Society’s Hog Island “Sharing Nature: An Educator’s Week,” aimed at K-12 teachers and other educators.
- Huntsman Marine “Introduction to Marine Mammals and Seabirds” for kids ages 15-18.
In order to apply for a scholarship, all applicants are required to write a short essay about why they want to go to camp and how they might use what they learn.
Student applicants also need to submit a teacher recommendation. All applicants must be Hancock County residents or teach in Hancock County.
The application deadline is March 1.
