Auction to raise funds for Rosanna’s Readers

SURRY — Surry Elementary School is holding an online silent auction beginning Friday, July 31 at 8 a.m. and ending Aug. 9 at midnight to raise funds for Rosanna’s Readers.

The program gives a new book to each Surry Elementary student on his or her birthday in memory of the late Rosanna McFarland of Blue Hill, who had been a reading recovery teacher at the school.

Rosanna “molded a cadre of readers, arming them with skills and tools to employ as the materials get more difficult,” according to a statement from the school. “Our goal is to continue her legacy for many more generations of able readers.”

To view and bid on the auction, visit www.32auctions.com/RosannasReaders.

Items include art, handmade crafts, household items, gift certificates and more, including hand-turned bowls, a queen-size quilt, books, a lobster boat cribbage board and a two-night stay in Bar Harbor.

Cash donations also can be made online.

Pick up of auction items will be at the school on the following days:

Monday, Aug 10, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Tuesday, Aug 11, 2-6 p.m.

Other arrangements can be made by contacting Lynda Kane at [email protected].
