Driver, Passenger Uninjured After Car Rolls

WINTER HARBOR — A young man and woman escaped injury in a car accident Feb. 18 when they failed to negotiate a curve on Summer Harbor Road, police said.

The car went off the road and rolled repeatedly, coming to a rest 40 feet down the slope. Police said the driver and passenger walked away with minor injuries. Police said no alcohol was involved.

Possible Mail Fraud

A local resident brought a letter to police Feb. 3 that promised a cash prize in exchange for sending the resident’s personal banking information. Police advised the resident not to disclose any information and then contacted the postal inspector.

Verbal Confrontation

Police were called to the Winter Harbor IGA Feb. 7 following a report that two men were fighting in the parking lot. Police said it was a verbal confrontation, although the two men were threatening to hurt each other. Police issued a no contact warning to both men.

Dog Complaint

A person who does not live in town called police Feb. 11 to report that a dog was running loose at the Misty Harbor condominiums. The person also claimed the dog was unvaccinated. Police said the dog was restrained, had been vaccinated, but was not registered because the owner didn’t know that was required.

Hang-up Call

Police received a hang-up on a 911 call. Upon investigation, the person denied making the call.

Structure Damage

D C Air reported Feb. 14 that a truck had crashed into one of its buildings, crushing an awning, but no one witnessed the accident.
