Deer Control

BAR HARBOR — The fledgling, nine-member deer herd control task force is nearly full following the appointment of eight people by town councilors Tuesday.

Among appointments approved unanimously as part of a slate were Robert Kelley as the experienced and responsible hunter, wildlife biologist Bruce Connery as the Acadia National Park representative, Police Chief Nate Young or his designee, and town residents Robert Burgess, Ellen Grover, Robert Jordan, Christopher Maller and Jesse Wheeler.

Mr. Wheeler also is a member of the conservation committee. Only one position remains open, that of a representative from Kebo Valley Golf Club.
