Culvert work to cut access to Northeast

MOUNT DESERT — Route 198, the main road to Northeast Harbor, will be closed to all traffic at Richardson Brook, one-third of a mile south of the intersection with Eagle Lake Road, from Friday, May 17 at 7 p.m. until around 5 a.m. Monday, May 20.

The Maine Department of Transportation (DOT) plans to dig up a section of the road to replace the ceiling of a large culvert.

Traffic to Northeast Harbor will be detoured across Rte. 233 to Bar Harbor and through Otter Creek and Seal Harbor.
