TRENTON – Two men were killed and three people injured in a two-car crash Sunday evening on the Oak Point Road.
According to the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department, Joseph White, 23, of Trenton and James Crawford, 22, of Otis died after a 1998 Acura driven by White swerved into the oncoming lane and struck a 1997 Mercury driven by Michelle Michaud, 22, of Trenton.
White’s vehicle then left the road and rolled over, hitting two large trees. White, Crawford and another passenger, Ali Gray, 20, of Trenton, were not wearing seatbelts and were thrown from the vehicle, police said.
Gray was seriously injured and taken by helicopter ambulance to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor.
Michaud and her passenger, a 16-year-old juvenile, were taken to area hospitals for treatment of minor injuries.
In total, two ambulances from Ellsworth, two from Bar Harbor, and two Lifeflights were dispatched to the scene.
The accident occurred shortly after 7 p.m., closing down the Oak Point Road for several hours.
