Woman Charged With Stealing From Nonprofit

ELLSWORTH — The former accountant of a nonprofit that serves the developmentally disabled has been charged with theft for allegedly embezzling more than $15,000 over two years.

Sandra Linnell, 42, of Mariaville was issued a summons for Class B theft for allegedly stealing from her former employer, Yesterday’s Children. The program serves the developmentally disabled in Hancock, Washington, Penobscot and Piscataquis counties.

“Most of it she used company credit cards to make personal purchases over a two-year period — groceries, that sort of thing,” said Lt. Harold Page.
