WINTER HARBOR — Police responded at 8:30 p.m. Aug. 26 to reports of cries for help coming offshore along Summer Harbor Road.
Police said the person in trouble was a 72-year-old Rhode Island man who was fishing from a kayak when it capsized.
Passing fishermen rescued the man and brought him to shore, police said.
Woman Arrested
Heidi Peters, 24, of Winter Harbor, was arrested Aug. 30 on a charge of domestic violence assault, police said.
Police said Peters was taken into custody at 3 a.m. at a Main Street apartment after allegedly scratching her boyfriend during an argument.
Rental Dispute
Vacationers renting a house on Summer Harbor Road complained to police Aug. 26 that the homeowner was unfairly accusing them of having an animal on the premises, police said.
Fast Driver
Residents on Belleview Avenue complained to police Aug. 26 that a car went “flying” down the street.
Police said the driver apologized and told them the excessive speed was due to rushing a dog to the veterinarian.
Telemarketer Complaints
A 65-year-old resident complained to police about repeated hang-up calls from telemarketers.
Police said they reached the telemarketer, who agreed to stop calling.
Water Company Alarms
Police responded to two false alarms at the Winter Harbor Water District offices Aug. 25 and Sept. 4.
