Police deal with unattended deaths

WINTER HARBOR — Police Chief Danny Mitchell Jr. was asked to complete a well-being check at a residence on Hillcrest Drive, where a man was found deceased in his apartment on April 29. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner was notified and will be conducting an exam. 

Mitchell also was called to a medical incident on Hillcrest Drive on May 7. When police arrived, the person Mitchell was checking on was found deceased. Medical teams arrived to confirm.

Arrest

While on patrol on May 1, Officer Ken Schuurman recognized a woman walking on Main Street as Lindsay Swanson, 28, of Steuben. Schuurman verified her identity and then arrested Swanson for having two outstanding warrants. She was taken to Hancock County Jail.

Traffic stop

In Gouldsboro, Officer Eli Brown charged Linda Stanley, 67, of Mount Desert with operating with a license expired greater than 90 days following a traffic stop on May 2. 

Domestic incident

Brown and Hancock County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a domestic situation on Main Street on May 2. No assault had occurred, and a man involved in the incident was given a disorderly conduct warning. 

Prescription drugs

Brown received unwanted prescription medication from a citizen for proper disposal on May 2. 

Medical call

Schuurman assisted a medical crew that responded to a call of a woman who was on the floor on May 4. She was transported to Northern Light Maine Coast Hospital.
