WINTER HARBOR — A mulch fire broke out June 16 at a West Oval residence on Grindstone Neck.
Police assisted at the scene while the Gouldsboro/Winter Harbor Fire Department put out the fire. The property’s caretaker attributed the fire to accumulated mulch over the years.
Burned mulch ash was found below the garden’s surface, Police Chief Danny Mitchell Jr. reported.
Randy Bacon, 63, of Gouldsboro was summoned on a theft charge on June 22.
Mitchell said Bacon removed bags of ice from the outside freezer and failed to pay for them a couple of times previously at the Winter Harbor Food Service grocery store.
Police assisted at a head-on collision involving entrapment the night of June 19 on Route 1 in Township 7.
On June 21, Miguel Stanley, 23, of Ellsworth was charged with operating after suspension by Officer Eli Brown following a traffic stop.
Parking without permission
On June 29, a local business notified police that a camper was parking without permission on the property and appeared to have camped there.
Mitchell said the property owner planned to take care of the matter.
