Tremont Burglary Under Investigation

ELLSWORTH — Deputies are investigating a Christmas Day burglary in Tremont in which $4,200 in cash has gone missing.

Deputy Mike Southard said the burglary was reported Dec. 27. The victims had been away for a few days, he said. Force was used to gain entry to the home.


A generator was reported missing from a Township 3 residence Tuesday.

Kerosene was reported taken Saturday from a camp in Dedham.

A generator and two chainsaws were reported stolen Dec. 27 from a shed in Sullivan.

A Trenton man reported Dec. 29 that a chain blocking access to a driveway had been stolen.


An Ellsworth teen escaped injury Sunday when the vehicle she was driving left Route 180 in Otis and hit several trees.

According to deputies, Rachel Ball, 18, lost control of the 1999 Volvo due to gravel on the road. The vehicle is a total loss.

Slippery conditions are to blame for a New Year’s Day accident in Franklin.

Jane Hansen, 60, of Mount Desert was driving a 2001 Saab on Route 182 when the car slid off the road, hit an embankment and rolled over, coming to rest on its wheels. The Saab is a total loss.

A 2009 Dodge driven by Stephen Laprise, no age given, of Stonington sustained about $2,500 in damage Dec. 28 after hitting a deer on Route 172 in Surry.

Vehicle Theft

A vehicle theft on Cranberry Island is under investigation. The theft was reported Saturday. The vehicle was recovered.

Objects Thrown at Vehicles

Deputies failed to locate any suspects in a report of objects being thrown at vehicles Saturday in Tremont.

Sedgwick Boy Summoned

A 16-year-old Sedgwick boy was summoned Sunday on a charge of carrying a passenger beyond his license restrictions.

Mailboxes Damaged

Seven mailboxes on the Cape Rosier Road in Brooksville were vandalized Friday.


Suzanne Torrey, 42, of Penobscot was arrested Friday on a warrant charging her with a probation violation.

Charles Rayner, 45, of Sullivan was arrested Dec. 27 on a charge of violating his bail conditions.
