Three More MMA Students Charged with Alcohol Violations

CASTINE — The Hancock County Alcohol Enforcement Team continues to patrol the Castine area in search of liquor law violations. And, as recent reports show, many of those violations lead to charges against Maine Maritime Academy students. On Dec. 5, the team charged three more students.

James Mozley, 20, of Beaufort, S.C., was summoned on a charge of illegal transportation of liquor by a minor. During that same incident, the team arrested Dennis Hautaniemi, 24, of Old Lyme, Conn., on a charge of furnishing liquor to a minor.

In a separate incident, the team summoned Chase McGloin, 19, of Dresden on a charge of illegal transportation of liquor by a minor.

Two days earlier, on Dec. 3, a 20-year-old Maine Maritime Academy student was summoned on a drunk-driving charge as the result of a single-vehicle accident on Water Street in Castine.

Stefan Clugston of Castine was summoned on charges of operating while under the influence and violating his conditions of release.

According to the sheriff’s department, Clugston’s 1995 Volvo crossed into the oncoming lane, left the road and crashed into a ditch. The Volvo is considered a total loss.
