Three dozen teens charged with underage drinking at party

FLETCHERS LANDING — Three dozen teenagers were charged with possession of alcohol by a minor after police broke up a party Saturday. An 18-year-old man was taken to the hospital for treatment of possible alcohol poisoning.

According to Hancock County Sheriff’s Lt. Tim Cote, police responded to a report of an underage drinking party at a residence in Fletchers Landing Township.

“Upon investigation, the information provided was confirmed and there was a party involving several individuals ranging in age from 18 to 14 years of age who had been drinking,” according to the report.

Thirty-six individuals were charged with possession of alcohol by a minor by consumption.

“The female responsible for the party was issued a summons for providing a place for minors to consume alcohol,” according to police. “The parents of those involved were contacted and either came to the scene to retrieve their child or gave consent for them to receive a ride with a known responsible adult.”

The 18-year-old with possible alcohol poisoning was taken to Maine Coast Hospital by Northern Light Medical Transport.
