Swans burglar is sentenced

Christopher Lemoine

ELLSWORTH – One of the two men accused of taking weapons during the burglary last year of a home on Swans Island is to spend 30 days in jail.

Christopher Lemoine, 28, was sentenced last month in Hancock County Superior Court to two-and-a-half years in prison, with all but 30 days suspended and two years probation for his role in the April 22, 2012 burglary of his cousin’s home on Swans Island.

The case against Lemoine’s co-defendant in the burglary, Isreal David Hall, 33, has not been adjudicated.

The two men became suspects after the victim discovered a door to his home had been forced open and items were stolen. Among the missing items were a 9 mm handgun, a 50-round clip and 30-round clip for the same gun, a crossbow and bolts, knives, a diamond ring, metal detector and a night vision telescope and goggles.

Lemoine began serving his sentence at the Hancock County Jail on March 22.
