State Police: Man Charged After Car Goes Off Road

ELLSWORTH — A Brooklin man was arrested after his vehicle went off the road, striking a parked vehicle, a utility pole and four mailboxes, including the mailbox of the Maine State Police trooper handling the crash.


The vehicle went off the road on Route 15 in Sedgwick Sunday.

Nye Whiting, 63, was traveling north when the vehicle went off the west side of the road and struck a vehicle parked in a scenic turnout, police said. The vehicle then struck the mailboxes, including Trooper Tom Pickering, who investigated the crash.

Pickering arrested Nye on a charge of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of an intoxicant.

Disorderly Conduct

Troop Cliff Peterson responded to an Orland residence Saturday where two intoxicated men were having a fistfight about all-terrain vehicles. Both men agreed to work things out when they sobered up.

Michelle Hero, 40, New Hampshire, criminal speed.

Gregory Burrill, 26, Sullivan, OUI.

Andrew Ray, 28, Stonington, OUI.
