
SULLIVAN — Two people taken into custody Wednesday in relation to a stabbing on Ashville Road have been identified as William Gatcomb and Rachel Dwyer, according to state police.
Gatcomb, 44, of Sullivan, was arrested while walking on the nearby Morancy Road and Dwyer, 41, also of Sullivan, was found hiding behind a shed on the same road, police said.
Police said Dwyer was located with a search dog.
Gatcomb has been charged with assault and Dwyer with aggravated assault.
Police said Dwyer was taken to the Hancock County Jail.
Gatcomb was treated at Maine Coast Memorial Hospital for injuries received during the altercation and then taken to the Hancock County Jail, police said.
Police said none of the injuries was life threatening. A victim was transported to Maine Coast Memorial Hospital.
The incident occurred at a mobile home on Dead End Road, next door to the Ashville Community Church.
Troopers were assisted by the Gouldsboro Police Department, Maine Drug Enforcement Agency officers and the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
Trooper Chris Smith is the lead investigator and is investigating what precipitated the assault.
