Police ID pedestrian struck and killed in Bucksport

BUCKSPORT — Deputy Police Chief David Winchester has identified the man who was struck and killed by a vehicle while he was walking on the River Road July 28 as Steven Lemon, 47, of Minnesota.

“Mr. Lemon was walking south on the northbound side of Route 15 when he was struck,” Winchester said. “He was pronounced deceased at the scene.”

Winchester said the crash investigation is ongoing but a “serious medical event” is thought to be the cause of the accident.

The motorist who struck Lemon is Curtis Wood, 80, of Orland, the chief said. Wood’s vehicle crossed into the northbound lane and then left the roadway, striking Lemon. Bucksport Ambulance Service took Wood to a local hospital.

The Maine State Police, Orrington Fire/EMS and the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.

Officer Gerald Lowe is the lead investigator.
