Police break up two parties

ELLSWORTH — Police broke up two underage drinking parties this past week, one on Feb. 20 and the other on Feb. 22.

In the first incident, officers stopped a car and determined that “there was an underage party in town,” according to a police report.

Several occupants of the car were charged with drinking-related violations and one was arrested on a warrant.

Police arrested a 17-year-old girl from Winterport on a warrant out of Penobscot County for failure to appear (she was later released to her father).

Also during the traffic stop, 20-year-old Jake Bridges of Ellsworth was summoned on a charge of providing a place for minors to consume liquor.

Vaun Bridges, 19, of Otis and a 16-year-old girl from Eastbrook were both summoned on charges of possession or consumption of liquor by a minor.

Officers also charged the driver of the car, a 17-year-old boy from Winterport, with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of an intoxicant, illegal transportation of liquor and possession of marijuana.

Police checked a residence on the Shore Road where the party was reportedly taking place but did not charge anyone else.

Two days later, officers were dispatched to a house on Water Street, where another party had been reported.

In that incident, officers arrested Elijah Wiggins, 19, of Ellsworth on a charge of furnishing a place for minors to consume or possess liquor. Wiggins also was summoned on a charge of illegal possession or consumption of liquor by a minor.

Also on Feb. 22, the following teens were summoned on charges of possession or consumption of liquor by a minor:

• Samuel Lyons-Payson, 18, of Bar Harbor.
• James Avena, 18, of Bar Harbor.
• A 16-year-old girl from Eastbrook.
• A 17-year-old boy from Deer Isle.
• A 17-year-old boy from Bar Harbor.
• A 17-year-old girl from Bar Harbor.
• A 17-year-old boy from Bar Harbor.
• A 16-year-old boy from Orland.
• A 16-year-old girl from Blue Hill.
• A 16-year-old girl from Mariaville.
• A 16-year-old girl From Brooklin.
• A 16-year-old girl from Southwest Harbor.
• A 16-year-old girl from Blue Hill.
