Ohio man charged with sexually assaulting local girl

ELLSWORTH — An Ohio man has been charged with numerous offenses, including gross sexual assault, in connection with the brief disappearance of a Hancock girl last November, according to the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office.

Detective Frank Jennings arrested Timothy Pumneo, 21, of Orrville on charges of gross sexual assault, aggravated furnishing of scheduled drugs, sexual abuse of a minor and criminal restraint.

The girl was reported missing Nov. 13, 2019, and “was quickly located and taken into custody by authorities in Ohio, where she was subsequently reunited with her family who returned her to Maine,” Jennings stated in a press release.

The detective declined to comment on how Pumneo and the girl were or came to be acquainted.

There is no word yet on bail for Pumneo, who was booked into the Hancock County Jail on Friday evening.
